You set the date that the moving pods will arrive, when the company takes them away, and when they are delivered to your new address. You can even decide to have only part of your belongings delivered at a time if you use multiple moving pods, so you can unpack the essentials first and find space for all your less important belongings once the house is set up.How does it work?
You use the company's web site or the help of an agent to decide how many moving pods you need and what sizes you want. You call the company and schedule delivery of the pods. On the day you requested, the company's truck delivers the pods to your home. You take your time filling them, and when you are ready, you call and arrange for the company to take the full pods away. When you are ready to have the pods delivered to your new house, you call the company, and they deliver them to whatever address you specify. Once you have emptied the pods, you call again, and the company comes and reclaims them. You may not even need to be there when the company brings and removes the pods.
Are there any special considerations I should know about?
Packing moving pods is not quite like packing a moving van. Rather than piling the heaviest objects at the front of the pod, you should layer the heaviest items on the bottom and the lightest on top, with the total weight distributed evenly across the floor. You should also take extra care to pad your belongings, since the container might tip and rock slightly when it is loaded and unloaded. Also, if the pod company does not provide a padlock, you will need to buy one yourself.
